Enough With Empty Talk, Actions Please: Governor Kangata To Leaders

Date:

MURANG’A, Kenya – A tense moment played out during the funeral of nominated MCA Mark Gicheru Wainaina in Murang’a County on Saturday, as mourners rejected Deputy President Kithure Kindiki’s condolence message from being read aloud.

Attempts to deliver the Deputy President’s message through a representative were thwarted by the mourners, prompting clergy officiating the ceremony to step in.

They directed that the message be handed privately to the bereaved family to maintain decorum.

Governor Irungu Kang’ata followed suit, delivering President William Ruto’s condolence message directly to the family instead of addressing it to the gathering.

Governor Kang’ata used his speech to deliver a pointed message to his fellow leaders.

He urged them to focus on tangible development projects for the benefit of citizens rather than relying on rhetoric and empty promises.

“It is through actions and real development that a leader’s legacy is built and remembered,” Kang’ata said.

The political climate in Mt. Kenya has been increasingly hostile, with leaders linked to President Ruto grappling with resistance following the controversial impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Amid the political drama, the late Mark Gicheru Wainaina was remembered as a dedicated and principled leader.

Speaker Johnson Mukuha eulogized him as a tireless advocate for Murang’a residents.
