NAIROBI, Kenya – Newly-sworn-in Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has revealed that he has been President William Ruto’s political student for the past 20 years.
DP Kindiki made the remarks on Friday, November 1, 2024, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).
Kindiki, the immediate former Interior Cabinet Secretary said that he was grateful to the Mighty God and President Ruto for the honour he had given him to serve under him.
“In your political journey over 20 years now, has helped me pick lessons more than the years that I have served around you in various capacities. I promise you before this congregation and God that I will not let you down for the belief you have in me,” said DP Kindiki.

He also said that he was grateful to all the institutions that facilitated his swearing-in ceremony.
“I thank all the people who I have served with. I pay tribute to all our heroes and heroines who purposed to fight and defend our country and the constitutional order. I am grateful to all the heroes of our country for the past and present,” DP Kindiki added.
He said that he has had many people who have helped him to grow to who he is today.
“I am grateful for the burden you have placed on my shoulders courtesy of my parents and everyone who has shaped me to be where I am today,” Kindiki told his boss, President Ruto.

Further, DP Kindiki who was accompanied to the swearing-in ceremony with his wife, Joyce Kithure reiterated that he was grateful to his family.
“With your permission I want to pay credit to four people who have made a huge impact in my life for the past 15 years I have been in politics. I thank my wonderful wife, Joyce Kithure, a woman who has sacrificed her profession in her own right to raise our three children at the time that I have served this country in different positions,” explained DP Kindiki.
The little successes in the Interior ministry, Kindiki said that he attributes them to his colleagues.
“If there were challenges in the Interior ministry, I take credit for them,” said Kindiki while concluding his speech before the packed KICC grounds.
