NAIROBI, Kenya — CCTV footage has captured three suspected robbers on a motorcycle allegedly attacking residents along Suswa Road in Parklands, Nairobi, in the early hours of Monday, September 14, 2026.
The incident is among a series of reported robberies in Nairobi in which motorcycles have allegedly been used to approach victims and facilitate quick getaways.
In the Parklands incident, the suspects reportedly targeted residents who were standing outside a building at about 1 am.
Armed Suspects Rob Residents
According to the CCTV footage, three men on a motorcycle initially rode past the residents before returning about two minutes later.
One of the men reportedly disembarked while armed with a pistol and fired a shot to intimidate the victims before demanding their valuables.
“It was my uncle. We were just talking, we were just having a conversation, and I saw three guys pull up,” one of the victims said.
The victim said the armed suspect threatened to kill them as his accomplices searched their pockets for valuables.
The suspects allegedly escaped with a mobile phone, an Apple Watch and a sweater.
“They threatened to kill us if we don’t do it, if you don’t give it to them. We don’t have much of a choice,” the victim said.
The CCTV footage reportedly captured the suspects leaving the scene without concealing their faces. A separate report on the incident said the attackers fired into the air before taking personal belongings from the victims.
Shop Also Broken Into
The same area has also recorded a separate break-in targeting a business along Suswa Road.
A shop owner said he arrived at the premises on August 3 to begin his usual work, only to discover that the business had been broken into.
CCTV footage allegedly showed a suspect entering the premises at about 2 am and remaining inside for approximately 30 minutes before leaving with several items.
“Ukiangalia CCTV waliingia saa nane usiku ndio alimake kuvunja hii mlango. Aliingia like 30 minutes ndio tena akatoka akaenda na vitu,” the victim said.
The incident has added to concerns among residents and business owners over security in the area, particularly at night.
Thika Highway Victim Attacked
Another Nairobi resident recounted how he was allegedly attacked and robbed by two men riding a motorcycle along Thika Highway in the Survey area.
The victim said one of the men jumped off the motorcycle, caught up with him and kicked him, leaving him unconscious.
“I met with these goons, they were on bike. One of them was of course riding and the other one was behind,” he said.
He said the attackers fled with his phones, accessories and other personal belongings.
The account comes amid wider reports of motorcycle-linked phone snatching and robbery incidents in Nairobi and surrounding areas. Police have separately arrested suspects in Thika in connection with alleged phone-snatching and robbery cases, with detectives recovering a motorcycle believed to have been used in some of the incidents.
Residents Demand Action
The reported incidents have renewed concerns over the use of motorcycles by suspected criminals to move quickly through Nairobi streets and escape after robberies.
A Parklands victim called for decisive action against the perpetrators, saying residents should not have to live in fear of armed gangs.
“Something needs to be done about this. They need to be punished. It’s unacceptable,” he said.
The reports come as Nairobi continues to grapple with separate incidents of armed robbery. On September 14, police said two suspected gang members were shot dead in separate incidents in Dandora and near City Park, while another suspect was arrested.
