NAIROBI, Kenya — President William Ruto has announced that 2025 will mark a significant turning point for his administration’s affordable housing agenda as he prepares to hand over the first keys to completed housing units.
The milestone, he says, symbolizes the government’s commitment to tackling the nation’s housing deficit and delivering on its promises to uplift Kenyans’ living standards.
“In 2025, I will have the honor of handing over the first keys to completed affordable housing units to hardworking men and women from all walks of life,” Ruto declared. “At last, the transformation you entrusted us to lead will take tangible shape, and the fruits of our collective labor will be undeniable.”
The President described the initiative as part of a broader vision to ensure that ordinary citizens can afford dignified housing while also fostering economic growth through construction and job creation.
Ruto’s optimistic outlook for 2025 extends beyond housing.
He outlined ambitious goals aimed at making life better for all Kenyans, promising improvements in education, healthcare, security, and economic stability.
“In 2025, we will be busier at school and at work, better nourished, safer, more secure, and with more money in our pockets,” he said.

Healthcare: The Taifa Care initiative is set to reach full operational capacity, promising to reduce healthcare costs for households while delivering inclusive and high-quality services.
“Taifa Care will offer significant relief to households by reducing the burden of healthcare costs and delivering enhanced benefits through an efficient, inclusive, and high-quality public healthcare system,” Ruto said.
As the New Year begins, Ruto urged Kenyans to rally behind a collective vision for the country’s future.
“Together, in unity and with shared determination, we may embrace the New Year and work towards achieving the Kenya we want, which is now well within sight,” he concluded.
