Isiolo South MP Mohamed Tubi Bidu Dies While Under Treatment in Nairobi

NAIROBI, Kenya — Isiolo South Member of Parliament Mohamed Tubi Bidu has died while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital, Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula announced on Wednesday evening, November 12.

“It is with profound deep sorrow that I inform you and the nation of the demise of our esteemed colleague, the Member for Isiolo South Constituency, the Hon. Tubi Bidu Mohamed, MP, who has left us this evening while receiving treatment at the Nairobi Hospital,” Wetang’ula said in his official communication to Members of Parliament.

The Speaker eulogised the first-term legislator as a committed public servant who dedicated his career to advancing good governance and community development.

“Until his demise, Hon. Tubi Bidu served as a Member of the Departmental Committee on Environment, Forestry and Mining and the Public Petitions Committee. Previously, he was the inaugural Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly, where he diligently served until 2017,” Wetang’ula noted.

He urged Members of Parliament to honour the late MP’s legacy of leadership and devotion to service. “As we come to terms with this great loss, let us remember Hon. Tubi for his remarkable service and the positive impact he had on our nation.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, constituents, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.”

Tributes Flow from Isiolo Leaders
Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo led the county in mourning the fallen lawmaker, describing him as a visionary and principled leader whose efforts strengthened devolution and community cohesion.

“Deeply saddened by the passing of Hon. Mohamed Tubi Bidu, Member of Parliament for Isiolo South, this evening at Nairobi Hospital. Hon. Tubi previously served with distinction as the first Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly, where he laid a strong foundation for the growth of our devolved governance system,” Guyo said.

He lauded the MP’s integrity and commitment to public service, noting that his leadership would leave an enduring mark on Isiolo’s political landscape.

“He was a principled and courageous leader, steadfast in his convictions and always guided by a deep desire to uplift the lives of his constituents and foster unity across our county,” the governor added.

Guyo extended condolences to the MP’s family, friends, and constituents, praying for comfort during the period of mourning. “His passing is a profound loss not only to Isiolo South but to the entire Isiolo community and the nation at large. May the Almighty Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus and comfort his loved ones.”

Hon. Tubi’s death marks a somber moment for Isiolo County, which remembers him as both a legislative pioneer and a unifying figure devoted to his people’s welfare. Burial arrangements are expected to be announced by his family in accordance with Islamic traditions.
