NAIROBI, Kenya- Police are investigating the death of Evans Mwaura Githua, the chief executive officer of Nairobi-based IT solutions firm Com Twenty One, in what is suspected to be a case of suicide.
Githua, 51, is believed to have fallen from the 14th floor of a building along Kasuku Road in Nairobi. His body was discovered on the afternoon of December 23 behind Alba Apartments.
According to investigators, Githua had checked into a short-stay apartment alone the previous night. Police say he is suspected to have first injured himself by cutting his wrists before jumping from the room’s window in an apparent attempt to take his own life.
Officers forced entry into the bedsitter after being alerted to the incident, finding the door locked from the inside. Inside, the room was in disarray, with large amounts of blood found on the floor, bed, wardrobes and leading into the bathroom, indicating significant blood loss before the fall.
Police said the body was found naked and had multiple injuries, including head trauma, a broken right leg and deep cuts on both wrists believed to have been caused by a sharp object. A chair and towel were also recovered from the shower area, which investigators said pointed to a possible suicide attempt.
The apartment owner told police that Githua checked in on December 22, 2025, at about 8:54pm and was alone at the time.
Family members later raised concern after he failed to return home and his mobile phones went offline, which they said was unusual.
Police believe Githua died after sustaining severe blood loss from the cuts before falling from the building. His body was taken to the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination and further investigations.
The news has shocked colleagues and acquaintances, who said he had not shown visible signs of distress and had recently secured major business deals.
