NAIROBI, Kenya – Ahmed Farah has stepped down as Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), just six months after taking up the position.
In a statement released on Friday, Farah confirmed that his resignation takes effect immediately, citing irreconcilable differences with the organization’s board of directors.
“As with many leadership journeys, moments of divergence can shape the way forward. In this case, differing perspectives between myself and the Board of Directors have brought my tenure to a close,” Farah stated.
Despite the abrupt exit, Farah expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and for the collaboration he experienced during his tenure.
He praised the commitment of the KNCCI team and partners, and reaffirmed his belief in the institution’s potential to drive economic transformation.
Farah, who previously served as the Country Director for TradeMark Africa (TMA) Kenya, brought a strong background in commerce and international development.
He holds a Master’s in International Development from the University of Manchester and a Bachelor of Commerce from Kenyatta University.
He succeeded Patrick Nyangweso, who had served as CEO since April 2023.
Farah’s departure adds a new layer of uncertainty to KNCCI’s leadership at a time when Kenya’s business community is navigating economic challenges and global competitiveness pressures.
