Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba Says Her Life Is in Danger

Date:

KIAMBU, Kenya – Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has raised alarm over her safety, claiming that her life is in danger following an alleged summons to appear before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kiambu County.

Speaking outside the Kiambu Police headquarters, Wamuchomba, a vocal woman leader, demanded immediate protection, asserting that it is her constitutional right to be safeguarded.

“My life is in danger, and I need to be protected as a woman leader in Kiambu County. I demand protection because I have the privilege given to me by the Constitution of Kenya,” Wamuchomba stated.

The MP had arrived at the Kiambu Police headquarters on Monday to honor the alleged summons, only to find out after discussions with senior officers that the person who reportedly summoned her does not work at the station.

Wamuchomba explained that, upon further clarification from the District Criminal Investigations Officer (DCIO) and other senior officers, it was confirmed that the individual who had contacted her was not affiliated with the police force.

“The DCIO, the CCIO, and the person in charge of Criminal Investigations in the region called me this morning and told me they have nothing to do with the summons. They even suspect that these are the same people involved in abducting innocent citizens in Kiambu, and we need to identify them,” she added.

In light of the situation, she expressed her concern over the withdrawal of her security detail, which she believes places her in immediate danger.

“I demand the reinstatement of my security with immediate effect,” she said. “If anything happens to me, my life is in the hands of the government.”

The MP had previously claimed that her summons by the police was politically motivated, pointing to tensions within her constituency.

She alleged that the summons were linked to local political dynamics, where she said residents had resisted “fake promises and projects that never materialized.”

On Saturday, Wamuchomba took to her verified social media account to voice her concerns, stating: “The County Criminal Investigations Officer, Kiambu, has summoned me via a telephone call because the great people of Githunguri refused to be lured by fake promises and projects that never materialized.”
