Israel Offers Scholarships to Kenyan Students for Master’s Programme in Sustainable Development

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya — The government of Israel has announced new scholarship opportunities for Kenyan students seeking postgraduate training in sustainable development and community empowerment.

In a notice issued Saturday, the Israeli mission in Kenya said applications are open for a Master’s programme in African Sustainable Communities offered at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.

The programme is designed to bring together students from across the world to examine the key social, environmental, and economic challenges shaping African societies today, while exploring solutions that promote sustainable development and community-led change.

“Applications are now open for the MA programme in African Sustainable Communities at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev,” the Israeli mission said in its announcement.

“This interdisciplinary programme explores the major challenges and opportunities shaping African societies today, bringing together students from around the world to study sustainable development and social change,” the statement added.

According to programme details, successful candidates will spend their first year undertaking academic coursework at the Israeli university before proceeding to a second phase involving fieldwork or a community development project in Africa.

The course focuses on interdisciplinary training in areas such as sustainability, development policy, community leadership, and social innovation. Officials say it is aimed at individuals interested in careers in development practice, public policy, sustainability planning, and community-based initiatives.

The programme also offers scholarship support to qualified applicants, including both full and partial funding options.

Organisers said the funding support is intended to enable talented students, particularly from African countries, to access advanced academic training and contribute to development initiatives in their home regions.

The Israeli mission urged Kenyan universities, academic institutions, and development organisations to share the opportunity widely with students and professionals working in fields such as sustainability, development studies, governance, and public policy.

Applications for the programme will remain open until May 1, 2026, giving prospective applicants several weeks to prepare the required documents and submit their applications.
