Kenyan filmmaker and music producer Jibril Blessing, popularly known as J Blessing, has released a new album titled RAILA, a musical tribute to the late opposition leader Raila Odinga. The 14-track project, unveiled across major streaming platforms this week, arrives just days before Odinga’s private burial in Bondo, offering an artistic reflection on his life, leadership, and enduring influence on Kenya’s political and social landscape.
RAILA blends soulful instrumentals, live band arrangements and spoken-word segments from J Blessing’s Maestro.exe Band, weaving together themes of resilience, unity, and legacy. Tracks such as ‘Alitawala,’ ‘Baba Milele,’ and ‘Watu Wangu’ evoke Odinga’s long political journey and his connection with ordinary Kenyans.
On social media, J Blessing described the album as “a story told through sound,” accompanied by imagery of Raila at public rallies and family moments. Fans have praised the work as a fitting artistic send-off, blending faith, nostalgia, and national pride.
J Blessing’s musical gesture adds an emotional layer to the collective farewell, ensuring that Raila’s ideals continue to echo not only in speeches and history books but also in Kenya’s creative heartbeat.
