NAIROBI, Kenya — President William Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki have mourned Johana Ng’eno, the Member of Parliament for Emurua Dikirr, who died in a tragic helicopter crash in Mosop, Nandi County.
In a statement issued Saturday evening, President Ruto said he received news of Ng’eno’s passing with “profound shock and deep sadness,” describing the legislator as a progressive and devoted servant of the people.
“My friend, Mheshimiwa Ng’eno, was a progressive and devoted servant of the people who worked tirelessly on behalf of the residents of Emurua Dikirr, Narok County,” Ruto said.
The President eulogised the late MP as focused, vocal, and fearless, noting that he stood firmly for justice and equity.
He said Ng’eno would be remembered for tangible development gains achieved during his tenure and for his strong support of local talent, particularly in the music industry.
Ruto also extended condolences to the families of all those affected by the crash, terming the incident a national tragedy.
Details surrounding the cause of the accident were not immediately available, with investigations expected to establish the circumstances of the crash.

Deputy President Kindiki paid tribute to the fallen lawmaker, describing him as a dear friend, a courageous leader, and a committed member of the ruling party.
“My prayers go to the family and constituents of my dear friend Johana Ng’eno following his demise in a tragic helicopter crash earlier this evening,” Kindiki said.
He added that Ng’eno loved Kenya deeply and cherished his heritage, saying it was difficult to come to terms with the sudden loss of “a great son of our nation.”
Ng’eno represented Emurua Dikirr Constituency in Narok County and was known for his outspoken style in Parliament and grassroots mobilisation in his constituency.
Political leaders from across the divide continued to send messages of condolence, reflecting the shock that has rippled through the country’s political landscape.
