KALRO To Auction Vehicles, Office Furniture and Old Tires Starting May 5

NAIROBI, Kenya – The Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) has announced the upcoming auction of boarded assets, inviting the public to bid on a variety of items.

The auction, to be conducted by M/S Garam Investments Auctioneers and M/S Igare Auctioneers, will take place from May 5 to May 14, 2025, across various KALRO research centers in the country.

The auction will feature a wide range of items, including vehicles, laboratory equipment, office furniture, scrap materials, old tires, used furniture, and batteries.

The auction will commence each day at 10 AM, and bidders are encouraged to inspect the items in advance.

Auction Schedule:

  • May 5: KALRO Headquarters – Loresho (Igare Auctioneers)
  • May 6: Veterinary Research Institute, Muguga (Garam Investments), Food Crops Research Centre, Kabete (Igare Auctioneers)
  • May 7: Industrial Crop Research Centre, Mwea (Igare Auctioneers)
  • May 8: Food Crops Research Centre, Njoro (Garam Investments), Food Crops Research Centre, Embu (Igare Auctioneers)
  • May 9: Horticulture Research Centre, Kibos (Garam Investments), Agriculture Mechanisation Research Institute – Katumani (Igare Auctioneers)
  • May 12: Non-Ruminant Research Institute, Kakamega (Garam Investments), Arid and Range Lands Research Institute, Kiboko (Igare Auctioneers)
  • May 13: Industrial Crops Research Institute, Mtwapa (Igare Auctioneers)
  • May 14: Horticulture Research Centre, Matuga (Igare Auctioneers)

Important Notes for Bidders:

  • Bidders are required to pay a refundable bidding fee of 10% of the reserve price per lot. Payment is necessary to obtain a bidding number.
  • Bidding will take place on an “As-is-Where-is” basis at a price not lower than the indicated reserve price.
  • Successful bidders must pay at least 25% of the total bid price at the fall of the hammer before participating in subsequent lots. The remaining balance must be paid within 14 days.
  • Items that are not collected within 30 days will be forfeited, with storage charges of Sh500 per day after 14 days.
