KPLC Issues Power Maintenance Notice in 4 Counties This Tuesday, June 24

NAIROBI, Kenya – Kenyans in parts of Machakos, Homa Bay, Tharaka Nithi, and Kwale counties should prepare for a full-day power outage on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, as Kenya Power conducts scheduled maintenance operations across the regions.

In a notice issued on Monday, Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) announced that the planned interruptions are necessary to enhance power line reliability and improve service delivery.

Areas Affected

Nairobi Region – Machakos County

Residents in Kilimambogo will experience a power outage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Affected areas include Donyo Sabuk Market, KWS, KPLC Repeater Station at Summit, St. Damiano, Kantara, Nzambani, Kyeleni, Kitini, Kwa Mwaura Market, Kwa Mulinga, Kitambasye, Kayatta, Ngunga, and parts of Ngoliba Market.

South Nyanza Region – Homa Bay County

Power will be off between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. across the entire Rusinga Island, affecting Waware, Nyamuga, Wanyama, Kaswanga, Litare, Luore, Tom Mboya Mausoleum, Sienga, and surrounding areas.

In Asumbi and nearby locations, the outage will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., disrupting supply in Rabuor Masawa, Arujo, Maguti, Ogandi, Wiga, parts of Rodi, Imbo, Rangwe, Oluso, Sinogo, Asumbi Complex, Koyoo, Namba, Nyawita, Ojinyo, Omoya, Ndiru, Ohero, Masakla, and Obuya Dispensary.

Mt. Kenya Region – Tharaka Nithi County

Communities in Mitheru, Magundu, and Kiini will be without power from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Specific areas include Magundu Village, Karimba, Kaganjo, Iriani Village, Mitheru Market, Ikame, and Kiini.

Coast Region – Kwale County

In Kwale, the blackout will affect Samburu Town and surrounding areas from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Impacted locations include Vigurungani, Banga, Mwakijembe, Kinagoni, Silaloni, and adjacent neighborhoods.

KPLC has advised residents and businesses in the affected regions to plan accordingly and treat all electrical installations as live during the maintenance period.
