NAIROBI, Kenya – The Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK) has formally petitioned the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to investigate an alleged land grab involving the Kiambu County Government.
In a letter submitted to the commission, PCK accuses Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi and the Chief Officer for Roads and Transport, Daniel Njenga, of engaging in unlawful occupation and misuse of PCK’s land located in the county.
The petition, filed through PCK’s legal representatives, KAN Advocates LLP, highlights concerns over the encroachment of PCK property, accusing the two senior county officials of abuse of office and misconduct in their roles.
The letter, which was acknowledged by the EACC on March 20, 2025, details the corporation’s grievances, stating, “PCK wishes to formally lodge a complaint against Governor Kimani Wamatangi and Daniel Njenga for gross abuse of office, unlawful encroachment, misrepresentation, and misconduct in public office.”
A copy of the letter was also sent to the Inspector General of Police, signaling the seriousness of the matter and the corporation’s desire for immediate intervention.
In a related move, PCK’s Postmaster General, John Tunoi, reached out to the National Police Service and the Ministry of Interior and National Administration requesting assistance in securing the land.
Specifically, Tunoi’s office asked for police reinforcement to help erect a perimeter fence around the property and evict illegal occupants.
This request was formalized in a letter sent on February 28, 2025, outlining the need for security support to safeguard the public asset.
The Kiambu Senior Deputy County Commissioner further supported this request, reiterating the need for police assistance to prevent further encroachment.
The officer emphasized that the security support was critical to facilitate the fencing exercise and ensure the smooth execution of PCK’s plans to protect its land.
In a follow-up letter on March 3, 2025, PCK Facilities Manager Rose Musyimi reinforced the urgency of the situation, detailing how unauthorized traders had repeatedly interfered with the property.
Authorities suspect political figures may be backing the land grab, complicating efforts to secure the public property.
PCK’s legal team is calling for an expedited investigation to prevent further unlawful occupation and to protect the integrity of the public facility.
