Power Outage Alert: 7 Counties to be Affected on Tuesday

Nairobi, Kenya- Kenya Power has announced scheduled electricity outages across seven counties on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, as part of essential system maintenance operations. Residents and businesses in Nairobi, Nandi, Kisumu, Bungoma, Nyeri, Laikipia, and Kilifi should prepare for temporary power interruptions between 9 AM and 5 PM.

NAIROBI COUNTY (9 AM – 5 PM)

Northern Areas:

  • Githurai 45 business district (Co-op Bank, Naivas, Kingdom Sacco)
  • Mt. Kenya region and Kimbo area
  • Educational institutions (Clanne Academy, Fountain Junior)
  • Security installations (Army Barracks, Kimbo Police)
  • Residential zones (Mwana Mukia, Kwa DO, Mukinye, Sukari B)
  • Industrial sites (Farmers Choice)
  • Parts of Mwihoko, Clay City and surrounding areas

Southern Areas:

  • Nairobi West Shopping Center and residential zones
  • Nyayo Stadium vicinity
  • Healthcare facilities (Nairobi West Hospital)
  • Business corridors (Paa Crescent, Gandhi Avenue, Kodi Road)
  • Hospitality establishments (Summerdale Hotel, Rio Hotel)
  • Religious centers (ICC Church)
  • Madaraka Roundabout and adjacent neighborhoods

NANDI COUNTY (9 AM – 5 PM)

  • Danger area
  • Kapsasur region
  • Surrounding communities

KISUMU COUNTY (9 AM – 3 PM)

  • Portions of Siriba Campus
  • Maseno Nyawita
  • Neighboring residential areas

BUNGOMA COUNTY (9 AM – 5 PM)

  • Mechimeru

  • Machinjoni
  • Tembelela
  • Bukembe
  • Marobo
  • Mabanga

NYERI COUNTY (9 AM – 5 PM)

  • Gititu (including dispensary and educational institutions)
  • Nyaithe (including coffee factory and schools)

  • Maingirano
  • Ithe Kahuno

LAIKIPIA COUNTY (9 AM – 5 PM)

  • Kongoni Farm
  • Market centers (Umande, Ndemu, Seiyo, Gakeu)

KILIFI COUNTY (9 AM – 5 PM)

Coastal & Urban Zones:

  • Tourist sites (Jumba Ruins)
  • Healthcare facilities (Bomani Dispensary)

Industrial & Business Corridor:

  • Manufacturing facilities (Coca-Cola Bottlers, Ashut Plastics, Mombasa Apparel)
  • Food production plants (Milly Fruits, Mzuri Sweets)
  • Industrial enterprises (Umoja Rubber Limited)
