NAIROBI, Kenya – The 2025 WRC Safari Rally just got a major boost, with Safaricom injecting Sh46.5 million into the iconic motorsport event set to roar through Kenya this weekend.
As the official technology partner, Safaricom is rolling out high-speed 5G connectivity, enhancing safety, and ensuring global live streaming runs without a hitch.
Seamless Connectivity for the Ultimate Rally Experience
Nothing ruins an adrenaline-packed rally like a bad connection.
That’s why Safaricom is stepping up as the tech backbone of this year’s Safari Rally, deploying six Cell on Wheels (C.O.W.s) to key locations, including Kedong, Elementaita, Soysambu, Morendat, and Hell’s Gate.
These mobile towers will supercharge network capacity, keeping fans, teams, and officials connected throughout the event.
Beyond boosting connectivity, Safaricom is powering two fully-equipped media centers—one at the Service Park and another at Hell’s Gate—to facilitate seamless global coverage.
Journalists will also receive bulk data bundles to ensure uninterrupted reporting, even outside the designated media hubs.
“This marks our fifth year supporting the WRC Safari Rally since its return to Kenya in 2020,” said Safaricom CEO Dr. Peter Ndegwa.
“While we initially focused on nurturing young drivers, this year we are ensuring flawless connectivity for fans and participants alike.”

Safety and Smart Tracking for a Smoother Ride
Rallying is thrilling—but it’s also risky. To enhance safety, Safaricom is installing telematic gadgets and a Smart Vehicle Tracking System in all safety caravan vehicles, including ambulances.
This ensures real-time tracking and rapid emergency response.
Dr. Ndegwa also announced a medical camp in Naivasha town, providing essential health services for local communities, reinforcing Safaricom’s commitment beyond just sports.
“Preparations are in top gear ahead of the 2025 WRC Safari Rally,” said WRC Safari Rally CEO Charles Gacheru. “I urge fans to turn up in large numbers and witness the magic of rallying while cheering on our homegrown heroes.”
