Safaricom to Temporarily Close Select Retail Shops on Thursday

NAIROBI, Kenya – Safaricom has announced that several of its retail outlets across the country will temporarily close on Thursday, October 9, 2025, to allow employees to take part in an internal company event.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, the telecommunications firm said the affected outlets include those in the Nairobi Metropolitan Area, Mombasa, Malindi, Diani, Machakos, Kitui, Thika, Nyeri, Nanyuki, Embu, Maua, Meru and Garissa.

The company did not disclose details of the internal event but assured customers that normal operations will resume on Friday, October 10.

Safaricom further said its retail shops in the Mount Kenya, Coast, Eastern and North Eastern regions will close earlier than usual on Wednesday, October 8, to allow staff to prepare for the event.

“Shops in the Mount Kenya, Coast, Eastern and North Eastern regions will begin closing earlier on Wednesday, starting from 11:30 am,” the firm said.

The telco apologized for any inconvenience caused and encouraged customers to use its digital and partner channels during the temporary closure.

“We encourage customers to access our services through the Zuri Chatbot on our digital platforms, the Safaricom Contact Centre, and authorized dealer outlets near our retail shops,” the notice read.

Safaricom emphasized that all other services, including mobile money transactions and customer support, will remain available through its online and partner networks.
