Spotify Expands Library Pins to 20 in Long-Awaited User Update

Date:

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Spotify has rolled out one of its most requested updates, allowing users to pin up to 20 favourite items at the top of their library, a significant increase from the previous limit of four.

The new feature is designed to help users quickly access the playlists, albums, artists, podcasts, audiobooks and creators they use most without scrolling through an increasingly crowded library.

Spotify announced the update on Wednesday, describing it as one of the platform’s most requested improvements following years of user feedback.

The previous four-item pin limit had been in place for about five years and had become a common complaint among users who rely on the “Your Library” tab to organise their favourite content.

What users can pin

Once the update reaches their accounts, users can pin:

  • Playlists
  • Albums
  • Artists
  • Podcasts
  • Audiobooks
  • Creators

Pinned items remain fixed at the top of the Your Library tab, making them easier to access.

The update also gives Spotify an advantage over some competitors. Apple Music currently allows users to pin up to six items in their libraries.

How to access the feature

Users do not need to install a separate application to use the feature.

To enable it:

  1. Update Spotify to the latest version through the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
  2. Open the Your Library tab.
  3. Locate the playlist, album, artist, podcast, audiobook or creator you want to pin.
  4. Long-press the item or tap the three-dot menu.
  5. Select Pin to Your Library.

If the feature has reached your account, you will be able to pin up to 20 items instead of four.

Spotify said the feature is rolling out globally to both Free and Premium users.

The rollout has already begun and is expected to reach users worldwide over the next month. This means some users, including those in Kenya, may receive the update immediately after updating the app, while others will gain access gradually as Spotify expands availability.

The company said the enhancement reflects how users increasingly rely on Your Library to organise not only music but also podcasts, audiobooks and favourite creators.

Although relatively small, the update is expected to improve navigation and accessibility for millions of Spotify users who manage extensive libraries of saved content.
