‘The King is Coming Tomorrow’: Cleophas Malala Reveals Plans After Gachagua’s Land at JKIA

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) has called on its supporters to turn out in large numbers at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Thursday morning to welcome its party leader and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua back to the country.

In a televised interview on NTV’s Fixing the Nation, DCP Deputy Party Leader Senator Cleophas Malala described Gachagua as “the king,” urging Kenyans to join what he termed a “majestic procession” from JKIA to Nairobi’s Central Business District.

“Tomorrow is a public holiday. We will receive a majestic reception because that is the person who speaks for Kenya. The king is coming tomorrow. Humble yourselves and wait for the majestic walk from JKIA,” Malala declared.

According to a press release issued by the party on Monday, Gachagua — who has been on a visit to the United States — is expected to land at JKIA at 8 a.m. on August 21.

The day’s programme will include a convoy into the city and a mass rally at the historic Kamukunji Grounds.

Malala further cautioned security agencies against interfering with the event, warning that attempts to disrupt the procession would not be tolerated.

“The police are notified to provide security and they should not dare demonstrate against the people of Kenya,” he said.

The party also alleged that President William Ruto’s administration is plotting to either arrest Gachagua upon arrival or divert his plane to Kisumu or Mombasa to facilitate detention.

DCP vowed to resist any such move, framing the return as a test of democratic freedoms.
