41pc of Kenyans Prefer Anne Amadi as Next IEBC Chairperson-Survey

NAIROBI, Kenya – A recent survey by TIFA has revealed that 41% of Kenyans support Anne Amadi, the former Chief Registrar of the Judiciary, as the next Chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

The poll, which was released on Wednesday, shows Amadi leading by a significant margin, with Charles Nyachae, former judge of the East African Court, trailing at 23%.

The survey, conducted between May 2 and May 6, 2025, and involving 2,024 respondents, asked participants to choose from the four final candidates for the position.

Amadi’s popularity extends across various regions, with her highest support coming from Nairobi (54%) and Nyanza (53%).

She also received strong backing in the Coast (45%), South Rift (41%), and Lower Eastern and Western regions (37% each).

The Central Rift showed 36% support, while the Northern region had 34%.

Amadi’s appeal appears widespread across gender lines, with a slight preference from women (42%) over men (40%).

However, Nyachae has a stronger following among men, with 26% compared to 20% among women.

Other candidates in the race, Erastus Ethekon and Abdulqadir Ramadhan, garnered 15% and 12% of support, respectively.

The poll, conducted via telephonic interviews, carries a margin of error of +/- 2.17%.
