Nairobi Residents in Embakasi to Face Planned Power Outage on Saturday

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya — Parts of Embakasi in Nairobi County will experience a planned power interruption on Saturday, February 7, 2026, as electricity utility crews carry out scheduled maintenance works in the area.

According to a power maintenance notice issued on Friday, the outage will affect customers between 8.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. as part of routine system upgrades and network maintenance within the Nairobi Region.

Areas listed to be affected include Citams Embakasi, KSD Business Park, Emirates Business Park, Skyline Estate, Kenya Airways Pride Centre, Naivas Supermarket Embakasi, Quick Mart Embakasi, Cabro Kenya Ltd, Kirinyaga Construction Company, KEMSA, and adjacent customers.

The maintenance works are expected to improve system reliability and reduce unplanned outages in the area once completed.

Public advisory and safety notice

Customers in the affected areas have been urged to treat all electrical lines as live during the outage period, as power may be restored at any time without prior notice once maintenance works are completed.

Utility companies typically schedule such outages during daytime hours to allow safe access to infrastructure and to ensure technical teams can complete work within a defined timeframe.

Residents were also advised to unplug sensitive electrical appliances to prevent damage from power surges when electricity is restored.
