NGIRIMABU, Kenya — The body of Embu University student Jackline Ruguru, who had been missing for nearly a week, was discovered in a coffee farm in Ngirimabu village on Saturday, sending shockwaves through the local community.
The grim discovery came after villagers noticed dogs circling the plantation. One resident followed the animals and found Ruguru’s remains, immediately alerting authorities.
Witnesses described the scene as horrific. The body showed signs of extreme violence, including a disfigured head—believed to have been damaged by acid—and a missing hand.
Residents fear the brutal killing may have been deliberate and targeted.
Family friends said Ruguru’s father was too distraught to visit the scene, and DNA testing will be necessary to confirm the identity.
Those close to the student noted she had no known conflicts before her disappearance.
Villagers speculated that the killing could be linked to a relationship dispute and urged young people to settle disagreements peacefully.
Police have launched an investigation into the murder as the community demands justice for the slain student.
