NYERI, Kenya – Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has hosted political leaders from different areas and ranks in his Wamunyoro home since his ouster in October.
This latest is the meeting with Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) from Nakuru County as he continues to reconnect with grassroots leaders across Kenya.
The former DP emphasized the importance of listening to the electorate, stating, “The people are the ultimate owners of power as espoused by our constitution. They appraised me on the socioeconomic matters of the county but, more importantly on what Wanjiku is keen on being given priority.”
Gachagua praised the ward representatives, highlighting their role in staying closely connected to the concerns of the common citizen.
“Their voice is a true reflection of what the common wananchi stands for,” he remarked.

He affirmed his commitment to gathering insights from various leaders to compile a comprehensive report on Kenya’s economic status and future direction.
Gachagua has shifted his political base to his rural home, engaging in a series of meetings and events aimed at solidifying his support.
His dismissal from office, attributed to his differences with President William Ruto, has propelled him into a more grassroots-oriented approach.
Gachagua’s legal battle over his impeachment continues, with a critical hearing set for January 23.
A three-judge bench, including Justices Eric Ogola, Frida Mugambi, and Anthony Mrima, will preside over the more than 30 petitions challenging his removal from office.
Observers suggest Gachagua’s rural-based political maneuvers are a tactical move to evade perceived government scrutiny.
