HOMA BAY, Kenya- Homa Bay County is set to receive 200 computers from the State Department for ICT and the Digital Economy after Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications Stephen Isaboke announced the initiative during a thanksgiving and prayer service in Karachuonyo Constituency.
The announcement came as Isaboke joined ODM leaders, including Oburu Oginga and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, in calling for unity, inclusive leadership and accelerated development during a thanksgiving ceremony held in honour of Homa Bay Woman Representative Joyce Atieno Osogo Bensuda.
Speaking at Kanyadhiang, Isaboke said the computers would support the government’s efforts to bridge the digital divide and expand access to technology for learners and young people in the county.
“The donation is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to bridge the digital divide and promote access to technology in Homa Bay County,” Isaboke said.
He noted that expanding digital access remains a key priority under the government’s digital transformation agenda, adding that technology plays a critical role in empowering young people through education and digital skills.
Leaders Emphasise Unity and Inclusive Leadership
The event brought together political, community and religious leaders, alongside hundreds of residents, in a show of solidarity and appreciation for Bensuda’s leadership.
Isaboke commended the Woman Representative for her commitment to inclusive leadership and support for vulnerable members of society, saying servant leadership and collaboration remain essential for accelerating development.
ODM leader Oburu Oginga described the occasion as a celebration of the unity that continues to define the party’s leadership in Homa Bay.
He said discussions during the gathering focused on strengthening the broad-based political arrangement, expressing confidence that continued cooperation among like-minded leaders would strengthen the coalition ahead of future elections.
He urged leaders and residents to continue speaking with one voice, saying peace, stability and unity are essential for sustainable development.
Wanga Praises Bensuda’s Leadership
Governor Gladys Wanga hailed Bensuda as a dedicated public servant whose leadership has been defined by inclusivity and commitment to uplifting vulnerable members of the community.
She said the gathering demonstrated the unity among Homa Bay leaders and reaffirmed their commitment to working together to advance development in the county while strengthening ODM ahead of the next General Election.
Leaders Attend Thanksgiving Service
The ceremony attracted several political and community leaders, including Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang’, Homa Bay Town MP George Kaluma, Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi, Vihiga Woman Representative Beatrice Adagala, members of the Luo Council of Elders led by Ker Odungi Randa, Members of Parliament, Members of County Assembly and other ODM leaders.
The event concluded with renewed commitments from leaders to foster unity, strengthen partnerships and promote inclusive development initiatives for Homa Bay County and the country.
