Millions Lost As Fire Razes Modern Furniture Pacific Store in Ruiru

Date:

RUIRU, Kenya — A fierce fire gutted the Modern Furniture Pacific shop in Ruiru early Wednesday morning, destroying property worth millions of shillings.

No injuries were reported, but the incident has left business operations in turmoil as investigations into the cause of the fire begin.

The fire reportedly broke out around 7 a.m. and quickly spread across the store, reducing valuable furniture to ashes.

Witnesses say residents initially tried to battle the flames before firefighters from Kiambu County arrived to contain the inferno.

Thick plumes of smoke billowed above the building as some residents watched helplessly from a distance.

The furniture shop is linked to prominent businessman Gibson Murage Gitonga, who runs several successful furniture outlets across the country, including one in Nakuru.

Gitonga’s business empire has been a significant employer in the region, amplifying concerns over the economic impact of the fire.

Police have launched an investigation to determine what sparked the blaze.
