Mvurya Commends Samba Sports Youth Fund for Empowering Youth Through Wellness and Life Skills

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya — Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya has lauded the Samba Sports Youth Fund Trust for its ongoing efforts to empower young people through mental wellness, life skills, and entrepreneurship.

After receiving a delegation from the organization led by its Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed Ali Mwachausa, Mvurya emphasized that both mental and physical wellness are critical in helping youth discover their purpose and translate their aspirations into meaningful livelihoods.

“Mental and physical wellness remains integral for our young people as they discover their purpose, nurture their talents, and translate their aspirations into meaningful and dignified livelihoods,” the CS said during the courtesy call at his office.

He commended the trust for its sustained work since 2023 in delivering value-based life skills programmes, which he said have provided a constructive pathway for combating drug and substance abuse, crime, and teenage pregnancies among youth across several counties.

The Samba Sports Youth Fund Trust has so far positively impacted over 120 young people, equipping them with critical social and entrepreneurial skills to build sustainable futures.

Mvurya also congratulated the newly crowned winners of the Mr. and Mrs. Samba Youth Empowerment Pageant, a signature event under the organization’s youth programs. The pageant promotes leadership, creativity, and entrepreneurship while fostering positive community engagement among young men and women.

He noted that such initiatives complement government efforts under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), particularly in promoting skills development, job creation, and social inclusion.

“I am encouraged by the spirit of innovation and community service that the Samba Sports Youth Fund has shown. Their model of empowering youth through wellness, mentorship, and enterprise aligns perfectly with our national vision of equipping young people to take charge of their future,” Mvurya said.

He reaffirmed the ministry’s support for partnerships that advance youth empowerment, emphasizing that sustainable development requires nurturing a generation that is healthy, skilled, and socially responsible.
