Nairobi Rated Fifth-Best City in Africa

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – Nairobi has been recognized as the fifth-best city in Africa in the 2025 Trip Advisor Travellers’ Choice Awards.

The ranking places Kenya’s capital alongside some of the continent’s top tourist destinations.

The number one spot was claimed by Morocco’s Marrakech, followed by Mauritius.

Tanzania’s Zanzibar and South Africa’s Cape Town Central took third and fourth place, respectively.

Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano expressed her joy on social media, celebrating Nairobi’s achievement.

“May we continue maintaining peace, patriotism, prosperity, and kindness among us. Kenya is our home and a dream destination for the world,” Miano remarked.

Nairobi’s unique appeal lies in its blend of urban vibrancy and natural beauty.

The city is home to Nairobi National Park, a sprawling game reserve where endangered black rhinos roam alongside giraffes, zebras, and lions.

Adjacent to the park, the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust operates a renowned elephant orphanage, further cementing Nairobi’s reputation as a wildlife haven.

The Travellers’ Choice Awards are based on reviews and ratings collected from millions of travellers over the past year.

To qualify for these prestigious awards, destinations must meet strict criteria, including a minimum number of reviews and a high overall rating.

Each year, the awards celebrate the best destinations, hotels, and attractions worldwide, reflecting the real experiences and opinions of travellers.

This year’s winners highlight the vibrant and diverse travel experiences Africa has to offer.

Marrakech, often referred to as the “Red City,” topped the list for its enchanting mix of markets, gardens, palaces, and mosques.

Trip Advisor described the city as a place where visitors can lose themselves in the historic Medina or find peace at the serene Jardin Majorelle.
