PS Omollo Urges Bunge la Wananchi to Shape Kenya’s Post-Vision 2030 Agenda

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya — Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration Raymond Omollo has called on members of Bunge la Wananchi to organise nationally and actively participate in the National Conversation on Kenya’s Future Beyond Vision 2030, saying grassroots voices must help shape the country’s next development blueprint.

Speaking during a consultative meeting with representatives of Bunge la Wananchi drawn from Jonsaga, Kibra, Westlands, Chokaa, Tena and Jeevanjee, Omollo said the forum plays an important role in strengthening democracy, encouraging constructive dialogue and enhancing public awareness of government programmes.

The meeting focused on issues affecting young people and their role in advancing national development, with discussions centring on civic education, digital responsibility and public participation.

According to the Principal Secretary, the discussions explored ways of promoting the responsible use of digital platforms, strengthening the Vijana Tujue Gava initiative as a civic awareness programme, and deepening grassroots understanding of government projects and opportunities under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

Omollo urged the representatives to ensure that Bunge la Wananchi is effectively organised at the national level so that its views are reflected during the National Conversation scheduled for August 12.

“I encouraged Bunge la Wananchi to organise nationally and ensure its grassroots voice is represented in the National Conversation on Kenya’s Future Beyond Vision 2030,” he said.

He noted that broad public participation is essential in shaping Kenya’s long-term development agenda, adding that grassroots engagement would strengthen democratic governance and improve awareness of government interventions.

The meeting was attended by a delegation of leaders from across Nairobi County, including Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi, Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, Nairobi West MCA Rex Omolleh and other leaders.
