NAIROBI, Kenya — On the sidelines of the ADWA celebrations, Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya, E.G.H, held a bilateral meeting with Ethiopia’s Minister of Defence, Engineer Aisha Mohamed Musa, aimed at advancing the Kenya-Ethiopia Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA).
The discussions focused on operationalising the DCA through phased, realistic implementation and fast-tracking outcomes of the inaugural Joint Defence Committee.
Both sides also explored strengthening security coordination along the Moyale, Marsabit, and Turkana corridor to tackle cross-border threats affecting national security.
Tuya highlighted the importance of enhanced collaboration under the African Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) to support sustainable regional stabilisation, as well as securing strategic infrastructure, including the LAPSSET Corridor.
“Kenya and Ethiopia’s security is deeply interlinked. We remain committed to building a structured, predictable, and results-oriented defence partnership that safeguards our borders, protects critical national assets, and promotes lasting stability in the Horn of Africa and the wider region,” Tuya said.
The bilateral meeting included H.E. Amb. Galma Boru, Kenya’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union; Major General Frederick Leuria, Assistant Chief of Defence Forces in charge of Operations, Plans, Doctrine, and Training; and senior officials from both countries.

The engagement underscores Kenya’s continued efforts to strengthen regional security partnerships and ensure coordinated responses to cross-border threats.
