Wetang’ula Urges the Youth to Embrace Education for Better Opportunities

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- Education is the great equalizer—that was the powerful message from National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula as he celebrated the inspiring story of Claire Juma, a recent graduate who rose from serving as a security guard to earning a degree in education from Kibabii University.

In a heartfelt meeting at his office, Wetang’ula commended Claire for her resilience and determination, highlighting her journey as a shining example of how education can transform lives.

“Claire’s story is proof that no human is limited. With determination and a clear vision, anyone can achieve greatness,” Speaker Wetang’ula noted during their meeting, accompanied by Claire’s area MP, John Chikati.

Claire, who once worked as a security officer—duties often equated to the traditional role of a watchman—pursued her studies despite numerous challenges.

Her commitment culminated in a bachelor’s degree in education, a milestone Speaker Wetang’ula described as life-changing.

“Education is the light for the future and the empowerment young people need to unlock their potential,” he said, urging youth to focus on their studies regardless of their circumstances.

Speaker Wetang’ula emphasized the transformative power of education, calling it the “ultimate equalizer” in society. He praised Claire for demonstrating that even menial jobs can serve as stepping stones toward greater achievements with zeal and focus.

“Her story is a reflection of how education can change lives, equip individuals to compete in the job market, and prepare them to contribute to their communities,” he added.

In an encouraging twist, MP John Chikati announced that Claire had already secured a teaching opportunity at a local school while awaiting her Teachers Service Commission (TSC) registration.

Wetang’ula used Claire’s journey as a rallying cry for young people across the nation, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

He urged them to embrace education as their pathway to a better future, reminding them that obstacles can be overcome with determination and hard work.

As Claire embarks on her new chapter, her story serves as a beacon of hope, illustrating that perseverance, combined with the right opportunities, can lead to remarkable success.

Claire’s incredible journey from a security guard to a graduate is more than an inspiring tale—it’s a testament to the power of education to rewrite destinies.
