NAIROBI, Kenya — Airtel Money Kenya has launched Bizna Wallet, a dedicated digital wallet designed to help small and micro-enterprises separate business finances from personal transactions, as the mobile money provider steps up its support for Kenya’s growing digital economy.
The new product targets entrepreneurs such as kiosk operators, market traders, boda boda riders, matatu operators and other small business owners seeking better financial management tools.
The launch comes amid growing adoption of digital payments by Kenyan businesses.
According to the Mastercard SME Confidence Index, 95 per cent of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) now accept mobile payments, highlighting increasing demand for financial solutions that extend beyond simply receiving payments.
Speaking during the launch, Airtel Money Kenya Acting Managing Director Michael Bonke said Bizna Wallet was developed to address the practical financial management needs of the country’s expanding small business sector.
“Small businesses are at the heart of Kenya’s economy, yet many entrepreneurs still rely on personal wallets to manage business finances,” Bonke said.
He noted that the platform enables business owners to separate business income from personal finances, monitor daily sales, access mini statements, receive payments from different mobile money networks and protect business payments from unauthorised reversals.
According to Bonke, these features are intended to improve cash flow management and give entrepreneurs greater visibility over their financial operations.
“Our goal is to provide solutions that help businesses operate more efficiently while making digital financial services more accessible and rewarding,” he said.
Cashback Rewards Expanded
Alongside the launch of Bizna Wallet, Airtel Money announced an expansion of its Rudishiwa cashback programme to benefit both businesses and individual customers.
The company will now offer 50 per cent cashback on eligible transactions, including:
- Paybill payments
- Transfers to other mobile money networks
- Bank-to-wallet transfers
- Wallet-to-bank transfers
Bonke said the move reflects Airtel Money’s continued investment in customer-focused digital financial services.
“As Kenya’s digital economy continues to grow, so do the needs of businesses and consumers. At Airtel Money, we are continuously investing in technology, expanding our reach and developing innovative solutions that make financial services simpler, more secure and more relevant for our customers,” he said.
He added that the cashback programme marks a shift from the company’s previous airtime reward model to direct cash rewards credited into customers’ cashback wallets.
“Initially, we had airtime rewards, and now we have introduced real cash rewards that go into your cashback wallet for every eligible transaction. Customers can transfer the cash from the cashback wallet into the main Airtel Money wallet,” Bonke explained.

No Registration Required
Airtel Money said the cashback programme is available automatically to all registered Airtel Money customers in Kenya who complete qualifying transactions worth Sh101 or more, with no opt-in required.
Eligible cashback is credited instantly into a dedicated Cashback Wallet, accessible through both the My Airtel App and the *USSD 334# platform.
Customers can subsequently transfer the rewards into their main Airtel Money wallet and use the funds across the company’s range of mobile financial services.
