Electric Mobility Firm Roam Inks Deal With Greenspoon On Sustainable Food Delivery Service in Kenya

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- In a move set to revolutionize food delivery in Kenya, electric mobility company Roam has partnered with Greenspoon, an online retailer specializing in organic food, to introduce a sustainable delivery service.

This collaboration marks the latest development in the food delivery sector, where technology and sustainability are increasingly taking center stage.

Launched under GreenspoonGo, Greenspoon’s rapid delivery service that started in February 2023, this new partnership aims to create a greener alternative to traditional delivery methods.

The service utilizes Roam Air electric motorcycles, each capable of handling up to 15 customer orders daily.

The initiative not only promises faster delivery times but also aims to significantly reduce carbon emissions—an environmental win for Kenya’s burgeoning delivery industry.

Roam’s Sales Operations Manager, Dionne Getata, emphasized the importance of this partnership in promoting sustainability.

“Our collaboration with Greenspoon represents a shared commitment to creating a healthier, more sustainable planet. By leveraging the latest in electric motorcycle technology, we’re reducing our carbon footprint while offering a more eco-friendly alternative to traditional delivery services,” Getata noted.

The partnership is expected to drastically cut delivery times, with orders now arriving in under 99 minutes, down from the previous wait time of up to three hours.

This efficiency is made possible by the Roam Air’s innovative design. Equipped with a removable dual battery system, each motorcycle can cover over 225 km on a single charge, enabling riders to complete up to 195 orders daily.

The bikes, which have a zero-emission output, can carry up to 220 kg, making them a robust and environmentally friendly option for urban delivery.

Elijah Karanja, Greenspoon’s Operations Manager, highlighted how this partnership aligns with the company’s broader sustainability goals.

“This deal is perfectly in sync with our push towards achieving net-zero emissions. By integrating Roam’s electric motorcycles into our delivery fleet, we’re not just enhancing efficiency but also making a significant impact on reducing our carbon footprint,” Karanja stated.

Kenya’s food delivery sector is experiencing rapid growth, driven by a rising demand for convenience and the integration of technology-driven services.

This partnership between Roam and Greenspoon is a clear example of how the industry is evolving to meet modern consumer needs while also addressing environmental concerns.
