NAIROBI, Kenya- Safaricom has announced the departure of two of its esteemed board members, Ory Okolloh and Francesco Bianco.
The announcement came on Thursday, marking a significant transition for Kenya’s leading telecommunications company.
Safaricom’s acting company secretary, Lisa Wambani, confirmed that Ory Okolloh’s tenure ended on July 24, 2024, while Francesco Bianco is set to leave on August 1, 2024.
These decisions were made during a comprehensive board meeting held on July 24, 2024.
In a heartfelt statement, Safaricom expressed its gratitude for the substantial contributions made by both Okolloh and Bianco during their time on the board.
“The board takes this opportunity to thank Mr. Bianco and Ms. Okolloh for their invaluable and robust contributions in the committees and at board meetings during their tenure and wishes the two all the best in their future endeavors,” the telco stated.
Ory Okolloh joined Safaricom’s board in February of the previous year, bringing her vast expertise to the company’s strategic decisions. Her tenure, though short, was marked by significant input that helped shape Safaricom’s direction.
Francesco Bianco, a veteran in the telecommunications sector, has been an integral part of Safaricom for the past four years.
His extensive experience and insights have been crucial in guiding the company through various challenges and milestones.
