Sistema.bio Partners with Engie Access to Deliver Biogas Digesters to 10,000 Farmers

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- Africa’s premier biodigester company, Sistema.bio, is making waves with its recent expansion into West and Southern Africa.

Partnering with key organizations and leveraging innovative technology, Sistema.bio is on a mission to revolutionize energy access and sustainability across the continent.

Sistema.bio’s reach now extends to Zambia and Mozambique through a strategic partnership with Engie Access, an off-grid energy services company.

This collaboration, supported by the Modern Clean Cooking Facility for Africa (MCFA), aims to introduce biogas digesters to over 10,000 smallholder farmers in these countries.

In Zimbabwe, implementation partner Lanforce Energy is set to install more than 2,500 biodigesters within four years. This expansion underscores Sistema.bio’s dedication to tackling energy challenges and promoting environmental sustainability across the region.

In West Africa, Sistema.bio has joined forces with Farmerline in Ghana and SNV Netherlands Development Organisation in Nigeria.

The first biodigesters in Nigeria were successfully installed in July 2024, marking a significant milestone in the region’s journey towards sustainable agriculture and renewable energy.

These partnerships aim to empower smallholder farmers with climate-smart energy solutions tailored to local conditions, driving a transformative shift towards sustainable practices.

Madrin Maina, Sistema.bio’s Director in Africa, emphasized the company’s commitment to accelerating clean and reliable energy access across the continent.

“Sistema.bio’s biodigester technology represents a climate-smart energy solution for smallholder farmers that is rapidly scalable and has the potential to empower millions of people across Africa. Through our recent collaborations, we are now positioned as the leading biodigester company on the continent,” Maina remarked.

The benefits of biodigester technology align with nine of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well-being, Gender Equality, Affordable and Clean Energy, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Climate Action, and Life on Land.
