Visa and Carrefour Team Up for Weekend Shopping Bonanza

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- Visa has partnered with Carrefour to elevate their customers’ shopping experience.

This collaboration offers Visa cardholders exclusive discounts and giveaways, making their weekend retail therapy even more rewarding.

From now until August 18th, Visa cardholders who spend Ksh. 5,000 or more at participating Carrefour stores on weekends will receive assorted giveaways.

But that’s not all! For online shoppers, Visa cardholders can save Ksh. 500 on orders worth Ksh. 4,000 or more through the Carrefour app every weekend until September 15th.

This campaign leverages the rising trend of point-of-sale (POS) and online transactions in Kenya.

According to the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), POS transactions reached nearly 5 million in February 2024, a significant increase from 3.9 million in February 2023 and 3.66 million in February 2022.

Eva Ngigi Sarwari, Visa’s Country Manager for Kenya, shared her excitement about the partnership. “We are thrilled to be partnering with Carrefour to reward loyal Visa cardholders and enhance their shopping experience.”

“This is part of our broader strategy to enhance the payment experience at key retail partners and drive digital payment adoption across the country. By integrating our advanced payment solutions with Carrefour’s wide retail network, we aim to provide a seamless shopping experience that aligns with the lifestyle and expectations of modern consumers,” she concluded.

Christophe Orcet, Regional Director for East Africa, Majid Al Futtaim Retail, echoed these sentiments. “Our partnership with Visa, a globally recognized leader in digital payments, aligns perfectly with our commitment to providing added convenience and value.”

By offering tangible rewards and savings, Visa and Carrefour aim to encourage more consumers to embrace digital transactions.

This move not only enhances the shopping experience but also supports the broader goal of financial inclusion and digital transformation in the retail sector.
