Brenda Ochieng, the former partner of Kenyan rapper Stevo Simple Boy, has reportedly admitted to being unfaithful during their relationship, saying her actions were motivated by concerns about her child’s safety.
The reported admission adds a new twist to the couple’s highly publicised breakup, which followed DNA results indicating that Stevo was not the biological father of the child they had been raising together.
The controversy has attracted widespread attention, with the former couple offering different accounts of what happened before the paternity results became public.
Stevo, whose real name is Stephen Otieno Adera, announced on October 20, 2026, that he and Brenda were no longer together as a couple following the DNA findings. He described the results as difficult to process and asked the public to respect his privacy as he focused on his music career.
Brenda’s reported explanation now adds another dimension to the dispute, although the precise circumstances behind her reference to the child’s safety require further clarification.
Brenda’s reported explanation
According to the claim circulating online, Brenda said her decision to be unfaithful was connected to protecting her child.
Her reported remarks come amid growing public scrutiny of her relationship with Stevo, particularly following the revelation that the rapper was not the child’s biological father.
The paternity issue has triggered debate among Kenyans over trust, relationships and the emotional consequences of raising a child whose biological parentage later becomes contested.
Brenda previously claimed Stevo knew about paternity concerns
In a separate conversation with content creator 2Mbili on October 20, Brenda claimed that Stevo had known about the paternity issue long before the DNA results were released.
She maintained that she had previously informed him that he was not the child’s biological father and suggested that they had mutually agreed to continue raising the child together.
“Na Stevo nilikuwa nimeshamwambia kitambo,” she said, insisting that the issue had been discussed privately before becoming a public controversy.
Her account differed from the impression that the DNA results had newly revealed the child’s paternity to the musician.
Stevo, meanwhile, publicly acknowledged the outcome of the test and confirmed the end of the relationship. He has not publicly confirmed Brenda’s account of their alleged prior discussions in the reporting reviewed.
DNA results triggered the breakup
The dispute intensified after a video circulated showing Stevo receiving the DNA test results from medical practitioner Dr Peter Ngumba.
According to the explanation given in the video, the DNA profiles submitted for Stevo and the child showed mismatches at 11 of the tested genetic markers, excluding the rapper as the child’s biological father.
Stevo subsequently announced their separation, saying he had chosen to handle the matter with dignity and respect for everyone involved.
The results brought renewed attention to earlier public speculation about the child’s paternity, including claims previously made by Stevo’s former manager, Geoffrey Machabe, who later withdrew his claim and apologised.
Public reaction puts private relationship under scrutiny
The unfolding dispute has drawn attention to the difficulties that can arise when intimate family matters become subjects of public debate.
Brenda’s reported explanation about her child’s safety is likely to prompt further questions about the circumstances surrounding the relationship.
The allegations and competing accounts should also be distinguished from independently established facts. The publicly reported DNA findings address biological paternity, but they do not, on their own, establish what either partner knew, agreed to or intended during the relationship.
For now, Stevo has publicly confirmed the separation, while Brenda has previously maintained that he knew about the paternity concerns before the test results emerged.
