NAIROBI, Kenya- President William Ruto has announced that Kenya will complete two major national projects in 2026 — the Talanta Sports Complex and the Bomas International Convention Centre — boosting the country’s capacity to host international sporting and business events.
Ruto said the Talanta Sports Complex will be ready to host major events, including matches for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which Kenya is co-hosting with Uganda and Tanzania.
The facility, a 60,000-seat stadium in Nairobi, is set to become one of the country’s flagship sports arenas.
President William Ruto: In this new year, we will complete the Talanta Sports Complex, ready to host major international sporting events, including the 2027 AFCON. We will also complete the state-of-the-art Bomas International Convention Centre, restoring it as a premier venue
The President also highlighted plans to complete the state-of-the-art Bomas International Convention Centre, restoring it as a premier venue for national and global conferences.
The centre is expected to position Kenya as a leading hub for high-profile meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) in the region.
“These projects are central to our vision of showcasing Kenya on the international stage,” Ruto said, emphasizing that 2026 will focus on execution and completion of key infrastructure.
The Bomas Convention Centre, currently undergoing redevelopment, and the Talanta Sports Complex are part of the government’s broader strategy to attract international events and elevate Kenya’s regional profile in sports and business tourism.
“2026 becomes the year of execution at scale,” the President said.
