NAIROBI, Kenya- Chinese President Xi Jinping reaffirmed the deep-rooted relationship between China and Africa, emphasizing that the two have long been part of a community with a shared future.
His remarks came in response to a letter from scholars across 50 African nations, underscoring the enduring bond and mutual aspirations that unite China and Africa.
In a world characterized by volatility and interconnected challenges, Xi called for increased solidarity and cooperation between China and Africa.
He urged the African scholars to continue their vital role in providing intellectual support, particularly in the development of a high-level China-Africa community that can effectively safeguard the common interests of the Global South.
Xi’s message highlighted the importance of unity, especially as global dynamics continue to evolve rapidly.
The Chinese President’s remarks also touched on the recent third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), a significant event that reinforced China’s commitment to deepening reforms and pursuing modernization.
Xi expressed confidence that China’s ongoing development, rooted in peaceful progress and reform, would contribute positively to global peace and justice.
This, he added, would also fuel the modernization efforts of developing nations, particularly those in the Global South.
Xi Jinping’s optimism extends to the upcoming Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), which he sees as a crucial platform for enhancing China-Africa relations.
The summit, scheduled to take place in Beijing, offers another opportunity for leaders from both regions to discuss and further strengthen their cooperation.
Xi believes that the outcomes of this summit will pave the way for even more promising prospects in China-Africa relations.
Reflecting on the Dar es Salaam Consensus, Xi urged both sides to intensify their research and exploration into the development paths for Global South countries, with a particular focus on China-Africa and South-South cooperation.
The joint letter from Gert Grobler, a veteran South African diplomat, and 63 scholars from 50 African countries, was a testament to the strong ties and shared vision between China and Africa.
The scholars congratulated Xi on the successful third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and praised the historic achievements of FOCAC over the years.
They also expressed their high expectations for the upcoming FOCAC Summit, hoping it will further the goal of building a China-Africa community with a shared future and advancing the modernization of the Global South.
