Singer Bien-Aimé Baraza, popularly known as Bien, has signed with American record label Quality Control Music (QC), becoming the first African artiste to join its roster.
The label announced the signing on Friday, October 9, 2026, describing the partnership as part of its expansion beyond the United States. The deal brings together Quality Control Music and Courtesy Of LLC in a move aimed at growing Bien’s international audience.
The signing also coincides with the release of I’ll Be Okay, Bien’s first single under the new partnership. The song will lead his forthcoming studio album, giving the deal an immediate musical release.
“QC goes global,” the label said in its announcement, signalling its ambitions to extend its reach into new markets.
Quality Control Music’s leadership praised Bien’s songwriting, stage presence and the audience he has built through years of work in the African music industry.
QC executive Kevin “Coach K” Lee described the Kenyan singer as an artiste with the experience and ability to command large audiences.
“Bien is a star—seasoned, deeply talented, and the kind of artist who can hold a stadium with just a guitar. It’s so exciting to work with someone that special,” Coach K said.
QC co-founder and chief executive Pierre “P” Thomas also highlighted the foundation Bien had established before joining the label.
“Bien has it! He’s got the songs, a great performer, real fan base, and he’s already done a lot on his own,” Thomas said.
Quality Control Music brings experience in developing artistes and building audiences in the competitive American music market. Founded in Atlanta in March 2013 by Coach K and Thomas, the company became known for its work with acts including Migos, Lil Baby, Lil Yachty and City Girls.
The release of I’ll Be Okay gives the partnership an early test. The single arrived on October 9 and forms part of the rollout for Bien’s next album, titled Alusa Continua.
The track also follows a period of steady development in his solo career, which has combined his established Kenyan following with collaborations and performances aimed at audiences across different markets.
