Former Machachari actor Tyler Mbaya, popularly known as Baha, has turned to his fans for financial support as he works to revive his career as an independent digital content creator.
On Tuesday, August 4, the actor launched a public fundraiser, asking supporters to contribute towards the purchase of professional recording and editing equipment that will enable him to resume production of his YouTube series, Budah in Shawt.
Baha announced the initiative through his Instagram page, directing followers to a crowdfunding campaign hosted on BuyMeSoda.com.
“Wagwan Tyler Gang. If you’ve been enjoying my content and you’d love to see Budah in Shawt return on YouTube, I need your support,” he wrote.
He explained that every contribution, regardless of the amount, would go directly towards acquiring cameras, recording gear and editing equipment needed to improve the quality of his productions.
“Your support isn’t just helping me buy gear—it’s helping bring more stories, laughs and quality content back to the channel,” he added.
Baha first captured the hearts of Kenyans through his role on the popular Citizen TV children’s drama Machachari, where he became one of the show’s most recognizable faces.
After the series came to an end, he shifted his focus to online content, creating comedy skits, lifestyle videos and short films for YouTube and other social media platforms.
He established his own production brand and steadily built an audience through original projects, including his web series Budah in Shawt.
The series showcased his comedic style while allowing him to experiment with independent storytelling outside traditional television.
However, production eventually slowed, prompting the actor to seek financial assistance to acquire the professional equipment required to continue creating content consistently.
Baha is no stranger to Kenya’s digital entertainment space.
During his relationship with fellow digital creator Georgina Njenga, the pair became one of the country’s most followed young online couples.
Together, they produced lifestyle vlogs, comedy skits, family-focused videos and relationship content that attracted thousands of viewers across YouTube, Instagram and TikTok.
Following their separation, both creators pursued independent careers while continuing to co-parent their daughter.
The actor expressed confidence that, with the right resources, he will be able to resume filming and improve the overall quality of his YouTube projects.
Baha’s fundraising campaign comes after weeks in which he found himself at the centre of online conversations surrounding his personal life.
