British singer Lauren Bennett, best known for featuring on LMFAO’s global hit Party Rock Anthem, has died at the age of 37.
The news was confirmed on Monday by her former pop group G.R.L. through a statement posted on the group’s official Instagram account. No cause of death was disclosed.
“It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Lauren,” the group said. “Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how much she meant to us.”
The statement added: “We will forever cherish the love, laughter, and countless memories she gave us. Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved.”
Representatives for Bennett had not issued additional details about the circumstances surrounding her death at the time of publication.
International breakthrough
Bennett rose to international prominence in 2011 after providing vocals on LMFAO’s Party Rock Anthem, one of the biggest pop hits of the decade. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for six weeks and has since been ranked by Billboard among the most successful songs in the chart’s history.
She also appeared in the song’s official music video, which has accumulated more than 2.5 billion views on YouTube.
Beyond Party Rock Anthem, Bennett contributed vocals to film soundtracks, including Date Night and 21 Jump Street.
Career with G.R.L.
In 2014, Bennett joined girl group G.R.L., alongside Paula Van Oppen, Natasha Slayton, Simone Battle and Emmalyn Estrada. The group was launched as a reboot of The Pussycat Dolls project.
G.R.L. gained recognition with songs including Ugly Heart and Wild Wild Love, a collaboration with rapper Pitbull.
The group disbanded in 2015 following the death of member Simone Battle, whose passing prompted the remaining members to step away from the project.

Bennett’s death has prompted an outpouring of grief from former bandmates and fans, many of whom have taken to social media to celebrate her musical legacy and contributions to pop music.
