Early Bird tickets for Ne-Yo’s highly anticipated Nairobi concert sold out within an hour of going on sale, signalling strong demand for the American R&B star’s return to Kenya after 11 years.
The Early Bird Gold tickets for the One Night Only: Brunch Edition concert went on sale at noon on Saturday, September 12, at Sh7,500 through TicketYetu.
Organisers later announced that the first allocation had sold out within an hour, describing the response as the fastest sell-out recorded by the One Night Only franchise.
The development triggered the release of another batch of tickets as fans moved quickly to secure places for the October concert. TicketYetu currently lists the Early Bird Gold category as sold out, while other ticket categories remain available at higher prices.
The quick sale has underlined the anticipation surrounding Ne-Yo’s return to Nairobi, more than a decade after his last Kenyan appearance.
The three-time Grammy Award winner is scheduled to headline the One Night Only: Brunch Edition on October 20, 2026, which falls on Mashujaa Day.
The event organisers announced the concert earlier in September, with tickets starting at Sh7,500 for the Early Bird Gold category and rising to premium tiers. The event will mark Ne-Yo’s return to the Kenyan capital after his 2015 appearance during the third season of Coke Studio Africa.
His previous visit introduced him to a Kenyan audience that had already embraced some of his biggest R&B hits, including So Sick, Miss Independent, Because of You, Sexy Love and Closer.
His long absence from the country has added to the anticipation surrounding the upcoming performance.
The Early Bird Gold ticket offered fans the lowest published entry price for the concert. After that allocation sold out, the next Gold batch was listed at Sh10,000, meaning fans who missed the first release have to pay more for the subsequent allocation.
The rapid movement between ticket tiers has added urgency for fans who want to attend the concert before the remaining allocations are exhausted.
Ne-Yo’s upcoming performance will be his first major Kenyan concert appearance since his 2015 visit. The singer, songwriter and actor has maintained a strong connection with African audiences through his music and previous performances on the continent.
His Nairobi return comes as international acts continue to attract large audiences in Kenya, with local promoters increasingly combining major music performances with premium lifestyle experiences.
The One Night Only: Brunch Edition takes that approach by presenting Ne-Yo’s performance as a daytime event rather than a conventional evening concert.
