Three-time Grammy Award-winning American R&B star Ne-Yo is set to return to Kenya for a headline performance in Nairobi on October 20, 2026, 11 years after his last appearance in the country.
Ne-Yo will headline One Night Only: Brunch Edition, a daytime concert scheduled for Kenya’s Mashujaa Day public holiday.
The event organisers, One Night Only, announced the singer’s Nairobi return on September 10, with the concert set to combine a live performance with a premium daytime brunch experience. The exact venue has not yet been announced.
Tickets are expected to go on sale on Saturday, September 12, with early-bird Gold tickets priced at Sh7,500.
Regular Gold tickets will cost Sh15,000, while Platinum tickets will retail at Sh40,000.
The Nairobi concert will mark Ne-Yo’s first return to Kenya since 2015, when he visited the country for Coke Studio Africa.
During that visit, the American singer worked with several African musicians as part of the music programme, which brought together established artists from across the continent.
His October appearance will give Kenyan fans another opportunity to watch one of the most recognisable R&B voices of the 2000s perform live.
Ne-Yo, whose real name is Shaffer Chimere Smith, rose to international fame with a string of R&B and pop hits that established him as both a performer and songwriter.
His breakthrough catalogue includes “So Sick,” “Sexy Love,” “Because of You,” “Miss Independent” and “Closer.”
He also established himself as a songwriter before and alongside his solo career, writing or co-writing songs for other major artists.
Among his notable songwriting credits is Beyoncé’s “Irreplaceable,” which became one of the biggest songs of the mid-2000s. He also wrote “Let Me Love You” for Mario, further establishing his reputation as one of the industry’s sought-after songwriters.
Ne-Yo has won three Grammy Awards during his career and continues to release music more than two decades after entering the mainstream.
His return to Nairobi also comes at a new stage in his musical career.
In July 2026, the singer released Highway 79, his 10th studio album. The project explores country influences while retaining elements of the R&B sound that has defined much of his career.
The album takes its name from Highway 79 in Arkansas, where Ne-Yo was born, while also referencing his birth year, 1979.
The project follows Self Explanatory, his 2022 studio album, and adds a different dimension to his catalogue as he continues experimenting beyond contemporary R&B.
Recent releases have included “Simple Things,” “Up Out & Gone” and “Better Angels,” giving his Nairobi audience newer material alongside the songs that established his global profile.
Ne-Yo has also remained active outside the recording studio.
In 2026, he joined Akon for the Nights Like This Tour, taking their music to international audiences. His continued touring has kept him on the global live-music circuit as he balances newer material with his extensive catalogue of hits.
His Nairobi date also forms part of a wider African tour schedule.
Before travelling to Kenya, Ne-Yo is expected to perform in Cape Town on October 17 and Pretoria on October 18, putting his Nairobi appearance immediately after his South African dates.
