Kenyan music stars Nameless and Mejja will headline the entertainment programme at the 2026 Safari Sevens, bringing live performances to the three-day rugby tournament at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.

The 28th edition of the competition runs from Friday, October 9, to Sunday, October 11, with organisers combining rugby action with performances from some of Kenya’s established musicians, DJs and entertainers.

Rappers Breeder LW and Ssaru will also headline performances during the weekend, with Mejja and Breeder LW scheduled for Saturday before Nameless and Ssaru take centre stage on Sunday.

DJs and event hosts will support the musicians throughout the programme.

The line-up offers fans an entertainment programme alongside the tournament, which attracts local and international teams for three days of rugby sevens.

Saturday, October 10, will feature Mejja and Breeder LW as the main musical acts.

The two performers will share the entertainment programme with DJs Most Wanted, Joe Mfalme, Incredible and Protégé. Claudia Naisabwa and BM Shaxxy will also serve as masters of ceremonies, keeping spectators engaged throughout the day.

Mejja, known for his humour-driven lyrics and popular Kenyan urban hits, will bring his catalogue to the rugby audience, while Breeder LW will add his own blend of contemporary Kenyan hip-hop.

Their performances form the main Saturday entertainment offering as teams compete in the tournament.

The programme opens on Friday with DJs Confy and Grill, who will provide music as the opening day’s rugby action gets underway.

On Sunday, October 11, Nameless and Ssaru will headline the closing-day performances. DJs Tophaz, Kriss Darlin and Deweez will support them, while Shema, Hype Ballo and MC BV Accurate will host the final day.

The organisers have spread the performances across the weekend, giving fans different musical acts to look forward to on each day of the tournament.

The entertainment programme has backing from Kenya Breweries Limited through its Tusker brand, which committed Sh14 million towards the 2026 Safari Sevens.

Tusker serves as the tournament’s official alcohol beverage and entertainment partner.

The investment will support the event’s delivery and efforts to improve the experience for spectators attending the rugby competition.

Speaking during the sponsorship announcement, Tusker Sports Brand Manager Keza Mpyisi said the partnership would help bring rugby and entertainment together for fans.

“Safari Sevens is an important fixture on Kenya’s rugby calendar, and our sponsorship is about making the experience bigger and better for the fans who come out to support the sport,” Mpyisi said.

She added: “Through the Tusker Na Rugby platform, we are bringing together top rugby action and a strong entertainment line-up to give fans more reasons to be part of the weekend.”

The sponsorship builds on Tusker’s involvement in Kenyan rugby, including its support for the National Sevens Circuit and the HSBC SVNS 2 event held in Nairobi in February.

Kenya Shujaa enter the tournament as defending champions after winning the Mauritius Sevens the previous weekend.

Head coach Kevin Wambua has selected a squad combining experienced players with emerging talent, including debutants Elvis Olukusi, Glacious Owino and Rayvone Ambale.

The Kenya Morans will also compete, using the tournament to showcase players emerging from the domestic sevens circuit.

The men’s competition features 12 teams, while six teams will contest the women’s category.

The tournament brings together Kenyan sides and international opponents, making it one of the major fixtures on the local rugby calendar.

Kenya Rugby Union Chief Executive Officer Thomas Odundo welcomed Tusker’s sponsorship and said preparations were well advanced ahead of the competition.
