NAIROBI, Kenya – President William Ruto’s son George Ruto has finally met Teacher Cillah in person after weeks of viral social media banter that saw the junior school teacher jokingly express interest in marrying him.
George visited Westlands Primary School in Nairobi on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, where Teacher Cillah, whose real name is Priscilla Wanjiku Karanja, teaches Grade Three. The highly anticipated visit brought together the teacher, school administration, pupils and members of George’s team.
The meeting followed weeks of playful exchanges between George and Cillah on social media. What initially centred on jokes about a possible relationship eventually led George to learn more about Cillah’s work with children, including her efforts to support learners with special educational needs.
George had subsequently promised to visit the school and explore ways of supporting the learners.
George formally began his visit by signing the school’s visitors’ book before meeting the school administration and teachers.
He was accompanied by the Pace Setter Magazine team and members of the Mood matatu crew, with the customised Mood matatu also making an appearance at the school. Its presence generated excitement among the pupils, some of whom had drawn pictures of the vehicle.
The visit then moved to the school hall, where George met Cillah and other teachers.
The much-anticipated face-to-face meeting produced one of the day’s most talked-about moments when George embraced Cillah as teachers and pupils watched.
Cillah thanked him for honouring his promise to visit.
“Thank you so much for coming, and be blessed, and we will talk further privately so these others cannot hear.”
Her remarks drew laughter from those gathered at the school.
George later entered Cillah’s Grade Three classroom and interacted with her pupils.
He spent time speaking with the learners and getting a closer look at their learning environment. Reports from the visit also indicate that he participated in a multiplication lesson as he engaged with the class. The pupils also presented drawings inspired by George’s Mood matatu, adding a lighter moment to the school visit.
The visit also featured an afternoon programme involving music, dance and talent performances, giving pupils an opportunity to showcase their talents.
George also took part in an environmental conservation activity by planting a tree on the school compound.
The activity formed part of his engagements at the institution before he concluded the visit.
Beyond the social media attention surrounding his meeting with Cillah, George used the visit to highlight the teacher’s work with children.
He said he had learnt about Cillah’s efforts to support learners with special educational needs and indicated that plans were underway to work with her and the school.
George pledged support that would include football equipment, learning materials and specialised equipment for learners with special educational needs.
“I would want to thank him for backing me up. It means a lot. So thank you so much for coming and may you be so blessed.”
The visit also gave George an opportunity to address the relationship speculation that had grown around his online exchanges with Cillah.
Speaking before teachers and guests, George made it clear that the marriage talk was part of the social media banter.
“Niko na bibi,” he joked.
The clarification came after Cillah had repeatedly joked online about marrying George and even created humorous content around an imagined wedding.
