DCI Arrests Notorious Fugitive ‘Boyi’ in Dawn Raid, Recovers Suspected Stolen Government Stores

Date:

TRANS NZOIA, Kenya — Detectives have arrested a notorious fugitive believed to be behind a string of criminal activities in Trans Nzoia County following a dawn raid in Chebarus Village, Waitaluk Location.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations said officers from Waitaluk Police Station apprehended Evans Simiyu Wanyonyi, alias “Boyi,” ending what authorities described as a prolonged cat-and-mouse pursuit.

The intelligence-led operation targeted the suspect’s residence, where officers reportedly caught him off guard after several earlier attempts to arrest him failed.

A search of the premises led to the recovery of assorted items suspected to have been stolen.

Detectives said the haul included electronics and government stores such as police boots, a mess tin, and hospital equipment, raising concerns about how the sensitive materials were acquired.

Officers also recovered crude weapons believed to link the suspect to unlawful activities.

In a subsequent follow-up operation, investigators seized additional suspected stolen property, including heavy solar panels of various sizes, a solar battery, and connecting cables.

All recovered items have been documented and secured pending forensic analysis and court proceedings.

Several residents have since positively identified some of the items as property stolen from them, offering relief to victims who had reported losses in the area.

The suspect remains in custody and is expected to be arraigned in court to face charges.
