NAIROBI, Kenya — The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has rescued and facilitated the safe repatriation of three Indian nationals who were kidnapped shortly after arriving at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
The DCI said the three were rescued following intelligence-led investigations and coordinated law-enforcement efforts.
The agency announced the development while acknowledging the High Commission of India for its cooperation and recognition of the investigation.
Three Indian Nationals Rescued
According to the DCI, the three Indian nationals were kidnapped shortly after their arrival at JKIA.
The agency did not disclose when the kidnapping occurred, where the victims were held, how long they remained in captivity or whether any suspects had been arrested.
It also did not release the identities of the victims.
The DCI said its investigations were instrumental in securing their rescue and subsequent safe repatriation to India.
DCI Credits Intelligence-Led Operation
The investigations involved intelligence gathering and coordination between Kenyan and Indian authorities.
The DCI said the operation demonstrated the importance of international law-enforcement cooperation in responding to serious crimes involving foreign nationals.
“The DCI remains steadfast in its mandate to safeguard lives, uphold the rule of law and protect all persons within Kenya,” the agency said.
The investigators said they remain committed to pursuing justice in the case.
India-Kenya Security Cooperation
The rescue highlights the security cooperation between Kenya and India, particularly in cases involving Indian nationals in Kenya.
The High Commission of India is based in Nairobi and provides consular services to Indian nationals in the country. Its official website also lists registration and advisory services for Indian citizens in Kenya.
The DCI said cooperation between the two countries’ law-enforcement agencies would continue to strengthen efforts against kidnapping and other serious crimes.
DCI Vows to Pursue Kidnapping Cases
The agency said its commitment to combating kidnapping extends to victims regardless of their nationality.
“The DCI remains resolute in its pursuit of justice and commitment to combating kidnapping and other serious crimes, regardless of the nationality of those affected,” it said.
The agency did not provide further details on the ongoing investigation.
