NAIROBI, Kenya – The Office of the Auditor-General has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of Deputy Auditor-General Fredrick Oluoch Odhiambo, who passed away after a short illness on October 2, 2025.
Oluoch, who had served in the Auditor-General’s office for years, was instrumental in strengthening Kenya’s public finance oversight.
Colleagues described him as a dedicated civil servant who championed transparency, accountability, and ethical stewardship in the use of public funds.
In a condolence message, the Office of the Auditor-General hailed Oluoch’s commitment, noting: “Fredrick’s leadership and integrity left an indelible mark on this institution and on the governance of public resources in Kenya.”
The news has also drawn reactions from across the political and governance spectrum, with leaders emphasizing the loss of a seasoned public servant at a time when accountability institutions face immense scrutiny.
Arrangements for his burial are underway, with family, colleagues, and the public expected to pay tribute in the coming days.
