NAIROBI, Kenya — Nairobi Senator and ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna has hosted the families of four victims who were killed during the Kasarani and Nyayo Stadium incidents as mourners gathered to honour the late Raila Odinga.
In a post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Sifuna said the party had invited the families of Vincent Otieno Ogutu, Evan Onyango Kiche, Josfae Jida Burka, and Josephine Akeng’o to Chungwa House, the ODM Party headquarters, to express condolences and solidarity.
“We invited the families of the late Vincent Otieno Ogutu, Evan Onyango Kiche, Josfae Jida Burka and Josephine Akeng’o to Chungwa House today,” Sifuna wrote.
“They were among those killed in the course of mourning Baba at Kasarani and Nyayo Stadium. We extended our condolences and support on behalf of the entire ODM family, especially in the search for justice for these needless deaths.”
The ODM Party has condemned the violence that marred parts of Raila Odinga’s memorial gatherings, calling for an independent investigation into the circumstances that led to the deaths.
Sifuna reiterated the party’s commitment to pursuing justice for the victims and ensuring accountability for the loss of innocent lives.
His post has drawn widespread sympathy online, with Kenyans expressing outrage over the reported use of force during what was meant to be a peaceful mourning period.

Human rights groups have also urged authorities to expedite investigations and provide support to the bereaved families.
In Kasarani, police officers opened fire at the mourners killing at least three.
