NAIROBI, Kenya- Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Saturday led senior leaders from the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) on a political tour of Nanyuki and Naromoru, as the party stepped up grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The visit formed part of DCP’s wider campaign to consolidate support across the Mt. Kenya region and expand its presence in Laikipia County before embarking on additional tours in Nakuru later this month.
“We have agreed with you that nothing will stand between a great Republic and us, our forefathers fought for,” Gachagua said.
“We have embarked on a mission to rectify the injustices inflicted upon Kenya by this rogue administration. This marks the beginning of a new chapter, one dedicated to reclaiming our nation from looters, mismanagement, anarchists, and kakistocracy.”
Supporters lined the streets in both towns to welcome Gachagua and his entourage, with the DCP leader using the rallies to popularise the party’s agenda and urge residents to rally behind the opposition movement.
The Laikipia tour had been announced earlier in the week by DCP officials, including Laikipia Woman Leader Cate Waruguru, who called on supporters to turn out in large numbers to receive Gachagua in Nanyuki.
According to the party’s itinerary, the Laikipia engagements are part of an aggressive nationwide mobilisation programme that will also see Gachagua lead a two-day tour of Nakuru County later in August, with rallies planned in Naivasha, Nakuru Town, Njoro, Elburgon, Molo and Rongai.
The tour comes just days after Gachagua welcomed 24 Members of County Assembly (MCAs) from Laikipia and Nakuru into the DCP, describing the defections as evidence of growing support for the party. He claimed that more leaders were leaving rival political parties to join his movement ahead of the 2027 elections.
In recent months, Gachagua has intensified political campaigns across several counties, positioning DCP as a key opposition force while seeking to strengthen alliances in the Mt. Kenya region and beyond.
The Nanyuki and Naromoru rallies are expected to further shape the political landscape in the region as parties begin laying the groundwork for the next General Election.
